Made of 100% waterproof Dyneema® Composite Fabric (formerly Cuben Fiber), serves as an excellent waterproof barrier between you and the elements. Great tent
Light, simple set up, waterproof...what's not to love. Paired with an insert, even better
Spacious and reliable
Lightweight and lots of room. This is my go to shelter if I know there is going to be foul weather. Using the half insert allows me ample space to hunker down in the rain or snow. Being able to lower the fly to ground in heavy winds or raise for ventilation on sunny days valuable. Quality bomber mid worth the price
Great tent
Not much I can add that already hasn't been said. I own an echo 2, Dirigo 2, ultamid 4 and now the ultamid 2. I trust only HMG for my shelters.
Back Country Hunt
I ordered this with the 1p insert, however the item was back ordered. Hyperlite went above and beyond to get me my tent on time, they shipped it with the 2p insert insead, tent showed up the day I was needed to be on a Float plane! Thank you!
Pros - Very light, easy to setup, and can be taken down Insert and Shell in one piece which is very handy in a rainstorm. This was used for a ten day backcountry hunt in the Northern Rockies. It handled high winds, and heavy thunder showers very well. I found condensation levels were lower than my Marmot 2p tent significantly.
Cons- Dyneema fabric is VERY loud in a rain shower! Also, I am 5'7" and found the tent to be the perfect length. Taller users might be pushing the mesh out towards the Shell. There is no Vestibule of any kind, with two people it would be very cramped to keep two backpacks out of the rain.
As a one person tent with the 1p Insert this is an outstanding setup for a balance of weight, strength, ease of use, and dry storage for gear. As a 2p i think it leaves something to be desired space wise. Build quality is very good, material is excellent, and the service was outstanding.
