70L PACK, IDEAL FOR
- Dry, Rocky Environments
- Backpacking
OUR CLOSE QUARTERS TRAIL PACK
If you’ve got a four-season trail habit, the Southwest 70 has the volume needed for cold weather gear, food and fuel for a week, or additional travel tools like a packraft. Ideal for weekend, section, or thru hikes where resupply points are less frequent and/or bulkier equipment is required.
When the route is thick with vegetation, requires the occasional up and over immovable objects, and calls for “suck in your gut and shimmy through” type moves, the Southwest is the backpack you want up-close and personal. This pack family is made specifically for tough adventures that would rip most other ultralight-style packs to shreds.

Product Reviews and Questions
Rugged and dependable on a long section hime
This is my first pack of this design and it was an adjustment to get used to. I won't go back yes, it's light. Yes, everything fits. Yes, it had "head turning quotient" with Appalachian trail thru hikers. It was very comfortable, flexible, and I didn't have to worry about it.
Solid Pack
I really like this pack. Honestly, I probably could have gotten away with a 55, but the 70 rolls down pretty small. I bought this pack for winter/wet backpacking trips.
The construction is sturdy. Some people note that the pack straps are thin, but they felt fine to me. This pack has more than enough space for all my gear.
There are only two things about his pack I dislike. The waist belt is a bit short, and tightening the straps from the buckle backwards is awkward. Also, the side pockets are not easily accessed to grab my water bottle. My Flash 55 pack has angled pockets that make it very easy, I wish this pack had a similar setup for side pockets.
Overall, really nice pack. Highly recommend.
4400 The Beast
So I'm now a few trips in with my Black SW 4400.
This thing is a beast.
Most recent trips are the Black Forrest trail in Pennsylvania.
And 10 days back country in the Beartooths of Montana.
I wanted a pack that I could fit everything inside of and was light and rugged.
I don't like small packs with everything tied to the outside.
When I'm on shorter trips this thing compresses down nicely.
It is also very weather resistant as I hit alot of rain, sleet, and snow in the Beartooths. Zero water intrusion!
After what I have done so far this summer it's safe to say these packs are worth the money .
Gangster Pack.
I took this pack on the Colorado Trail and I am about to take it on the Continental Divide Trail.
The pack is comfortable, balances well and is very adjustable. It does not hurt that it’s water proof either.
Rear pack
Super light compared to my osprey atmos 65 and mystery ranch bridger 65, comfortable to wear and has plenty of room for the size gear I have. The pack feels like its constructed well and feels durable
