Product Reviews and Questions
“The One Bag Quiver “?
I was looking for a “do everything well bag” . I’m not made of $ so this was a splurge for me . I chose the N. Rim due to the additional advertised robustness . This bag is a bit of a chameleon. I purchased the add on straps & they make a HUGE difference in versatility ( strapping on snow shoes , or a zlite etc) . The front pocket eats my avy shovel ! The roll top takes a little getting use to but is clutch in volumizing , there is no internal sleeve , just a loop . I hook a caribener & I clip my wallet & keys to it , works great . This pack imo carries better 20-30 # than less . Have had 47# & well it was 47# ( just sayin) The dirt patina it picks up is also cool ! I use it for the approach , summit , overnight , weeklong , fly fishing skiing etc ( chameleon ) I treat the bag like garbage & not 1 single issue . I would like to see a internal pocket like on the other packs , I would do away w/ 1 hip belt pocket in favor of 1 gear loop , & it would be nice to have the option of removing the hip belt ( I’m literally being hyper critical) . I highly recommend this pack if you can reach deep enough into your pockets - don’t overlook the accessory straps !!!!
Exceeds Expectations
I have been jonesing for a new UL bag to replace my ~8 year old gossamer gorilla and my wife just got me this one for my bday (I've moved from east coast to west and replaced long distance trail w/ high routes in the Sierras) and this bag is everything. Super comfortable, HUGE internal storage capacity, and built like a tank.
I had extremely high expectations and was preparing myself to be a little let down, but holy heck, this bag is immediately my favorite piece of kit.
Great Backpack and Wonderful Customer Service
I love the North Rim backpack. Its large enough for the JMT but can scale down a bit for weekends if needed. I can fit my bear canister inside, along with the sleeping bag and extra cloths. I bought the bottle carrier accessory which is nice. Overall a great purchase.
So the item is exactly what I wanted and needed, but the customer service I experienced was stellar. When the shipping company had an issue with getting me the package, the team worked with me to help resolve the problem so that I could "get back on the trail ASAP." I really appreciate how the situation was handled, especially how Dylan kept me informed on how things were progressing.
Thanks Hyperlite!
Extremely durable for its weight
Did 38 miles of bushwhacking last weekend, beating up the pack on trees, the ground, and ice. The pack held up perfectly with no punctures (despite poking it with many branches as I worked my way through them - there was so much stick debris in the outer pockets that I couldn't see the bottoms). It really shows no signs of wear. As it was a winter trip, I was carrying almost 30 lbs of gear and food and it carried well in this pack. I expect many more years of heavy abuse out of this pack and doubt it would look any worse for wear.
It’s a culture
My crew and I now have “matching” hyperlite packs and various levels of use and we love it. Some have been put through their paces and some are brand new We just finished a bike packing trip, and man was the bag so comfortable. It was secure on my back even on black bike trail décents. Best part is the fabric doesn’t absorb the sweat and smell bad. The front pocket was very secure and easy to access between team mates. Slight issue is the water bottle slot. It can get quite difficult to slot in bottles or take out especially when everything is jammed packed and the fabric doesn’t stretch enough. Occasionally the bottles will drop out on some gnarly bike terrain. But all in all great product
