This pack is designed for on-trail, off-trail, and all-season environments, with one mesh and two solid exterior pockets for the best of both Southwest and Windrider features.
The Junction, like the Windrider and Southwest, represents our vision of a versatile, adaptable, and capable tool for nearly any adventure. Since its introduction over seven years ago, countless backpackers have seen and done it all with theirs. The Junction’s main pack body is built with a new, fully woven Dyneema® 200-denier fabric that offers more durability than ever before with the same signature lightweight and 100% waterproof qualities that have made Dyneema our primary material choice from the beginning. With two solid-fabric side exterior pockets that offer added protection for whatever’s inside and a center mesh pocket for visibility and drying wet gear, the Junction is a comfortable pack that delivers premium performance wherever you’re headed.

- The new Dyneema® Woven Composite 3.9 combines the light weight of Dyneema® Composite Hybrid 3.8 with durability and abrasion resistance that surpasses even the heavier Dyneema® Composite Hybrid 5.9.
- Redesigned shoulder straps and a sewn-through back panel provide a more comfortable and secure fit, with better weight distribution and less wear over time.
- Redesigned outside pockets with more depth, lower back edges for easier access to water bottles, and improved security for gear (like the ice axe) make packing and accessing items more convenient.

Fits Great. Rides Great. Load lifter are for people who cannot keep a good tight ruck packed properly. Just inexperience. There was no such thing as load lifters in the Army. Packed it right or suffered the consequences!!!

I'm generally skeptical of "perfect" reviews because every piece of gear involves compromises. After several months of training with this pack, however, I can honestly say the Junction has exceeded my expectations.
For context, I've been preparing for an 16-day John Muir Trail thru-hike. My training has included weekly loaded hikes with up to **40 lb** for **2½ hours at a time**, along with rain, heat, humidity, and long continuous walking. This wasn't a weekend test, it was a sustained shakedown.
The first thing I noticed was how well the pack transfers weight to the hips. At 40 lb, I expected to be constantly aware of the pack. Instead, the opposite happened. Once adjusted properly, the Junction simply faded into the background. That's about the highest compliment I can give any backpack. Good gear shouldn't demand your attention, it should quietly do its job while you enjoy where you're walking.
I was also impressed by the weather resistance. During one long training hike in steady rain and mist, the Dyneema fabric and roll-top closure kept everything inside completely dry. No fuss, no worrying about whether my quilt or spare clothes were getting wet. The pack inspired confidence.
Comfort remained excellent over long outings. After more than two hours under load, I occasionally loosened the hip belt for a minute simply to relieve pressure on the skin, not because the pack was uncomfortable, but because any pack carrying 40 lb compresses tissue over time. The suspension…

Had the original and loved it. Decided to try out the newest iteration and so far loving it. The new material feels a bit more durable. Looking forward to dragging it about in new adventures.

Minimal design helps me keep pack weight down and durable constriction makes me not worried about wear and tear. Makes backpacking more enjoyable.
