PROUDLY MADE IN MAINE
Sure, the fanny pack or bum bag–or whatever name you remember it being given–somehow earned some snickering and raised eyebrows back in the day. But its usefulness is undeniable, and like the champion it is, this accessory has held its head high and survived the test of time. To honor it, we gave it the Hyperlite Mountain Gear treatment, and the result is a streamlined, focused, and dependable companion for any adventure. Already a crowd favorite.
Heading out with the Shoulder Pocket, and then having it taken away would be the best way to demonstrate why it’s such a handy and relied upon item. But we’ll save you the trouble and tell you that this ever-popular accessory sells as fast as we can make them for a reason. Technology within easy reach, a little lip balm maybe, a hanky – we won’t tell you what to carry in it, just that you’ll be pumped to have what you need right where you need it.
You might pick up that there’s a theme developing here. Having your stuff where you want it in as efficient and convenient a manner as possible. Inside your pack, few accessories will testify to the value we place on these traits than our beloved Pods. Highly functional with a barely noticeable gain in overall pack weight, and designed to match interior pack dimensions and stack, Pods reduce the time you used to spend looking for the gear you need. You won’t understand how you backpacked without them before.
The REpack has one job to do, and oh how it does it. It keeps your food warm while it rehydrates. Simple. More than anything, though, it’s the effect it has on so many other actions involved in keeping the calories installed on trail. Repackaging your meals reduces waste and extra carried weight, encourages food creativity, and increases the likelihood you’ll be eating your food hot. It’s the key to a real reward at chow time, and what more would anyone want at the end of a long day?
If you don’t know specifically what trail you’d hit if a wand was waved and you could go right now–just that you know you want to do ALL OF THEM, then the 3400 Junction is a safe bet for the pack that will take on each and every route in stride. With the functionality of both pocket styles on our time-tested Windrider and Southwest, there are few environments where the Junction wouldn’t be right at home. The universal applause for our most recent trail pack is warranted.
The Dirigo 2 is our take on an all-inclusive and minimalist tent for multi-day trips out on the trail. How did we incorporate two diametrically opposed ideas into one ultralight shelter? Because it’s built with 100% waterproof Dyneema© Composite Fabrics and doesn’t need a separate rainfly, the roof, walls, and bathtub floor are all interconnected, and the whole structure pitches with the trekking poles or paddles you’re already carrying. That’s how. It’s the retreat Happy Hikers go home to.
Looking for a smaller volume pack that really doesn’t have an opinion about anything; it’s just up for whatever its wearer is? The Summit is very likely the pack for you or a pal. Light as heck and a blank canvas for myriad pursuits, the Summit Pack can be everything from an everyday carry to a stashed pack within a bigger one to be used for those last hundred feet to the top of a–wait for it–summit. And, since it’s a one-size-fits-all, you can get one as a gift without having to awkwardly try to measure the recipient’s torso and blow the surprise.
We hear all the time that the Minimalist Wallet is the “Dyneema© gateway drug.” Not really. It would, however, make sense. This featherweight accessory will give its user irrefutable proof of the kind of abuse this wonder fabric can take while inducing an uncontrollable urge to replace all existing equipment with as much Hyperlite Mountain Gear stuff as a gear closet will allow. Proceed with caution–and our full blessing. Another slam-dunk gift for a loved one.
PRISM ALPINE CLIMBING KIT
Our newest alpine pack and accessories are already being heralded as the standard-bearers of equipment for accomplishing ambitious Winter pursuits. We took feedback from the ice climbers and cold weather purists in our circles that tested each version until we had it right and went about building it with everything we know about manufacturing world-class gear for big adventures. The resulting Prism Alpine Climbing Kit will stoke out current climbers and encourage new ones.
NALGENE™ TRITAN NARROW MOUTH WATER BOTTLE
Show some brand affection while also staying hydrated? We’re here to tell you that this is a far cheaper way to look like a genius than any book on tape or costly seminar. This bottle, right here, is the answer. Light and sugared-up gorilla-proof, it also keeps water wet. Anyone that’s got one of these under the tree will be eternally grateful for how much better their life just got.

DARN TOUGH® HIKER MICRO CREW CUSHION SOCKS
Recommended by Victoria // Engineering
My Darn Tough socks are my favorite piece of gear ever. They come with me on every trip. I wear them all year long, whether I'm mountain biking, paddling, trail running, or coming to work, wearing boots, sneakers, or sandals. I've been wearing the same three pairs since my freshman year of college. And they're a great gift, because sometimes $23 seems like a lot to drop on socks.

LUCI OUTDOOR 2.0
INFLATABLE SOLAR LIGHT
Recommended by Brock // Shelter Production
Huge fan of the Luci light. Its relatively UL and has the ability to charge off solar. It's a really great addition to any campsite, especially if you're camping with people. Blow it up, toss it in a tree, and you've created a well-lit area for people to congregate without having to blind each other with headlamps.

PLATYPUS MAGNETIC DRINK
TUBE CLIP + INSULATOR
Recommended by Evan // Production
I have two small and cheap things from our good friends at Platypus that I really like because I am a crazy person. The first is this Magnetic Drink Tube Clip it's a little magnet that keeps the hose from my bouncing around in my periphery or flying out of reach. I know our bags have the elastic loop on the shoulder strap but I feel like that's too constraining and causes kinks in the line. The second is the Drink Tube Insulator. Personally I've gotten so hooked on using a hydro bladder that my body doesn't know what to do without small sips of water. In the winter my hose always freezes which #1 makes it impossible to use and #2 could potentially burst the plastic tube and bite valve. this thing keeps my hose at a nice toasty room temperature so it doesn't completely freeze, or at least delays the freeze till the end of the day.

NEOAIR® XLITE™ SLEEPING PAD
The Therm-a-rest Neoair XLite is so widely accepted as the zenith of air mattresses that we distribute it ourselves. Great for three-season use, and comfortable as all get out, this is an invaluable piece of equipment and the key to restful nights. “I don’t think there is any competition to the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir lineup.” - Ambassador Luc Mehl
This headlamp is a tough mammajamma featuring all the functionality and reliability you’d look for in this critical piece of overnight gear. One awesome feature we like is the digital lockout that prevents it from accidentally turning on from jostling around in your pack and draining the batteries–a huge bummer to discover when the sun goes down.
REACTOR STOVE SYSTEM
Fast and fuel efficient, the MSR Reactor is as reliable as that guy named Cookie that seems to be the camp chef in all the old cowboy movies. Remember him? Everybody got fed, and he could even help remove buckshot if things went pear-shaped. This stove can’t perform surgery, but you’re all but guaranteed to eat no matter the conditions outside.
WEEKENDER VARIETY PACK #1
Made in Maine! Delicious, nutritious, and easy to make. But yeah, they’re just down the road a ways, and we can’t help but let that influence our choices when it’s time to grab some food and head out for the weekend. Great stuff.
VESPER™ 32ºF / 0ºC QUILT
Use one and believe. We don’t really need to go into any more detail than that. If GUCCI made a pee rag, this one would be better.
ALPINE ERGO CORK TREKKING POLES
Another Black Diamond product we see every time we hit the trails out here in New England, these poles are relied upon for their rugged construction, the well-designed FlickLocks that keep everything staying put, and just how perfectly they go with the color palette of our tents and shelters–they keep the roof over our heads and really tie the room together. Light, comfortable, and good for miles and miles, we’re big fans.
You may have noticed that a few hikers here and there like to document their adventures with cameras. For that, we’re extend our bottomless thanks–it’s in large part why our blog looks so good! Being that we don’t want anything turning off the flow of brilliant imagery that comes our way, please! Photographers! If you’re reading this and you don’t have one already, pick one of these up! (And don’t forget that you can send those pics and words right here).
