3400 Southwest

Our preferred pack for backpacking in dense, heavily wooded trails in the roughest, toughest climates.
OUR CLOSE QUARTERS TRAIL PACK

On rugged and tight trails, the 3400 Southwest is a flexible performer that can adapt and handle the way gear volumes change for weekend, section, or thru hikes. Ideal when resupply points are less frequent and/or for equipment flexibility is needed. When the extra volume is not in use, the 3400’s top can roll down enough to make the overall size of the pack similar to the 2400, but that additional space can come in pretty handy when you need it.

When the route is thick with vegetation, requires the occasional up and over immovable objects, and calls for “suck in your gut and shimmy through” type moves, the Southwest is the backpack you want up-close and personal. This pack family is made specifically for tough adventures that would rip most other ultralight-style packs to shreds.

Awesome pack

Just used my new pack for a 13 day mountain traverse. It was great. Carried the weight well, other than dirt no signs of wear at all. I've had a lot of packs and this is the best ever.

An upgrade from every other pack I've used!

I just got back from my first backpacking trip using the 3400 Southwest and cannot say enough good things about it. It carries incredibly well and is super comfortable for long days. We encountered a downpour and the bag performed well in the rain. The minimalist style takes some getting use to, but once you figure out how to be efficient with your layout it is perfect. I highly recommend.

Amazing Bag, everything I was hoping for.

Finished my first trip with the backpack and loved it! Super easy to pack and held all my gear with extra space to spare for a 5 day hike in the back country.

Great Pack!

I was a little nervous to switch to an ultralight pack, but really, my heavy backpack was the last main item that was limiting my ability to get into a lighter overall pack weight status. I love the Hyperlite Southwest pack. It fits well, feels great, and is very rugged. I expected it to get far more dirty, but after my first 2 trips out it still looks white. It seems to stay cooler against my back. The pockets on the belt have quality, rugged zippers and can easily hold sun screen, bug spray, iphone, and trail snacks. The pouch on the back is divided into 3 areas and gear stays put well and doesn't seem to snag on things. I like the roll top feature so you can size the pack as needed to fit the contents. I highly recommend this pack if you have your base weight dialed to less than 10-12 pounds.
