So much easier than trekking poles!

I tried to use the trekking poles as my tent pole, but couldn't quite get it right, and even ended up putting a hole in my cork (there were no tears, but dang!). This really is not a huge difference in weight, so absolutely worth it to me.

Awesome addition to his gear

I purchased this for my husband as a birthday gift. He used it for a recent canoe, camping outing and said it was awesome. He would usually use his trekking poles, but didn’t need them. This worked great!

Excellent alternative if you do not have or need trekking poles

There are many times I find myself without the need for trekking poles (I.e., kayaking, canoeing, motorcycle trips). Now I have the perfect pole to round out my perfect tent.

Not sold

This pole doesn't feel as solid and sturdy as I'd expect, and it's heavier than one of my traditional hiking poles. Thought I might bring this on longer expeditions as a backup to my hiking poles but not sure it would make the kit list to be honest. There's nothing wrong with it other than it wobbles around when extended and although some give is expected for strong winds, it doesn't look or feel as strong as my strapped hiking poles which make the ultamid more taught and slightly easier to adjust in cold icy weather rather than the very stiff button release method on this.
