I finally managed to make my way to the Alaska Range, and just before I left for the trip I received my HMG 2400 Ice pack. I used this pack from 14,000 camp to the summit of Denali to acclimatize, and then when we went for our main objective, The Cassin Ridge on the SW Face of Denali - this pack held everything I needed, and nothing more. We climbed the Cassin Ridge fast & light, and this pack was the perfect tool for our 40 hour alpine push. I was nervous about the packs durability, but it has taken quite a beating and is still going strong! This pack is THE winter alpine climbing pack.

I am a big fan of multi-sport days in the mountains; between climbing, hiking, biking and open water swimming with my gear in tow, I couldn't be happier with this pack. A few tid bits about the pack itself, I love how light and truly durable the fabric is. I am rough on my gear and I'm glad to finally find something that can hold up to the challenge. Being a woman, I was a little worried about the shoulder and chest straps fitting but it fits surprisingly well. I got the belt with pockets and I like it. Lastly, it was worth the money. Get this pack.

I've been using the 3400 Ice Pack for three Winter Seasons now and it's hands down my favorite Ice/Alpine pack. I was an initial hard-sell on roll-top packs, I like my separate storage, however this pack has completely converted me. It hauls a full load of Ice/Alpine gear extremely well: rope, gear, belay jacket, food, tools, crampons, helmet (in the pack) and once on the route, the roll top ensures you can collapse the pack below your helmet level so it never gets in the way. I was worried about the lack of overall suspension options when I initially purchased the pack, however it wears far better than packs with all the bells and whistles. Also love the additional gear loops and ice clipper loops on the waist belt. It's been with me on multiple continents and has held up far better than many of my other packs, even though it's a "light-weight" pack.

I just came off the North Ridge of Mount Baker and this pack performed exceptionally well. Had no problem carrying heavy loads to camp and the roll-top allows you to shrink the pack down to probably a 30 liter, perfect for summit day. The weight savings of this pack almost makes it a no-brainer in its own right, but combine that with the ability to keep your gear dry in rain and snow, simplicity, and comfort make it even more of a must-have. I opted to go with pockets on waist belt, and while slightly difficult to open (if not fully packed), I feel the size is perfect. They’re big enough to fit sunscreen and snack in one pocket while having spare lightweight gloves/camera. Simply a great pack and the best piece of gear I’ve purchased in a long time.
