Ambassador David Lamb: Bitter Pill 2012

Hyperlite Mountain Gear Ambassador David Lamb and his adventure racing team took on the August 2012 Bitter Pill Adventure Race in Williston, Vermont. Time to look back at last year and start thinking about this year’s adventure races.

Hyperlite Mountain Gear Ambassador David Lamb is passionate about adventure racing. David and his Untamed New England adventure racing teams have completed many races, missions, and adventures across New England, including this year’s Frigid Infliction winter adventure race at Bolton Valley Resort (check out the blog post about that race here).

Last August, Dave and his team were busy tackling yet another tough Northeast adventure race: The MVP Health Care Bitter Pill. The annual 12-hour summer adventure race challenges participants’ navigation, trekking, swimming, mountain biking, and paddling skills over a tough course near Williston, Vermont.

Over David’s many adventures, Hyperlite Mountain Gear’s Windrider pack has lived up to the challenge. “My pack has been tremendous and has seen weekly use (and abuse),” said David. “It has held up extremely well, short of some stains and a torn off ice pack loop. It is reassuring to have such quick access to the main compartment of the pack through the top, as well as the ability to roll it back up and get moving immediately.”

Since the Bitter Pill, David has put the Windrider pack to the test on many other challenging adventures. In addition to the Frigid Infliction, Dave brought his Windrider pack on numerous hikes and treks this winter including 11 summits of Mount Washington, along routes such as the Lion’s Head winter route, Gulf of Slides, Boots Spur, Tuckermans Ravine Right Gully, and Nelson Crag.
