4400 Southwest
$425.00

70L PACK, IDEAL FOR
- 7+ Days
- Dry, Rocky Environments
- Backpacking & Thru Hiking
If you’ve got a four-season trail habit, the 4400 Southwest has the volume needed for cold weather gear, food and fuel for a week, or additional travel tools like a packraft. Ideal for weekend, section, or thru hikes where resupply points are less frequent and/or bulkier equipment is required.
When the route is thick with vegetation, requires the occasional up and over immovable objects, and calls for “suck in your gut and shimmy through” type moves, the Southwest is the backpack you want up-close and personal. This pack family is made specifically for tough adventures that would rip most other ultralight-style packs to shreds.

Product Reviews and Questions
5+ years & going strong
This pack has been around the globe with me on several occasions and countless backcountry expeditions. It has withstood the brute forces of nature and airport baggage handlers alike.
PROS:
- Extremely durable and lightweight. There's a reason they make sailing sheets out of Dyneema.
- The velcro, buckles, and pockets hold up remarkably and contain everything well. Cinches down effortlessly when not utilizing all of the available space.
- The "stuff sack" design is genius and despite the single point of entry it in fact makes gear organization and access a breeze.
CONS:
- Shoulder straps could be wider with more padding considering this backpack is capable of carrying extensive weight. The bag can handle the weight and if you need to pack your bag as such consider this point as it relates to the distance of transit. A few hours on the trail or walking through the city/airport? It'll be fine. Need to keep pace for several hours on a trail? Pack light.
- The metal drainage grommets at the base of the bag could be burlier. Mine have popped out over the years but can't say that it negatively affects the performance of the bag.
Its Magic
Amazing pack, so light and such potential. Love how it can be a small day pack and then poof, carry my packraft, camping gear and stuff for a big adventure!
No complaints
Solid bag keeps my stuff dry.. very light. Everything it says is supposed to be
Love it
I love this pack. I am surprised that with limited options to fit this specific to my body, somehow or other the fit was just right. I just did a 6 Day, five night backpack and couldn’t have been happier with the feel of the pack. And even though it doesn’t have a “brain” I was able to figure out ways to organize everything that I didn’t miss it at all.
Very minimal
very light weight, waterproof, fits well, not a lot of bells and whistles but you don't or won't need them; throw away your 5-6lb osprey or gregory pack and go lite. You'll enjoy your hiking so much more. Only one small thing...I'm not that organized when I hike and this pack is basically one large chamber so be sure to buy plenty of color coded stuff sacks to keep yourself organized.
