Love the insert! Changed up the set up.
The insert works great. I bought it and the Ultamid 4 to start section hiking the AT beginning in Maine September 2020. First day we set up in a blowing rain storm that pulled the stakes out of the ground with initial set up, but after securing guy lines to multiple points on the upwind side, wella! However, installing the insert as instructed is a pain, having to crawl around on your hands and knees to get it attached all corners....so, on the following days, I altered the set up and layed the insert down first and the Ultamid on top, walked around to each corner and attached the insert to the D rings before staking the corners of the Ultamid. Once the Ultamid was staked, inserted the poles in both the insert and Ultamid at the same time and then adjusted the Ultamid. The corners of the insert were easily tensioned from outside by reaching under since they were already attached. It was a much easier approach.
Ultamid 4 Inner
Worth the price as this inner is lightweight and shield you from bugs or other unwanted insects near you

Love it.
Allows so much flexibility to the perfect shelter. Love the UMD4 and full and half insert.
Ultamid Insert
I've been using the Ultamid 4 around the world on major Packraft expeditions and it's my go-to shelter. Roomy, light, durable and dry. I'm stoked to add the insert with floor to the mix, and find it adds 5-10 F degrees of warmth by reducing drafts. We always bring a big liner in Alaska, and I usually threw in a ground cloth to avoid sleeping in the dirt. Now the insert with floor meets all my needs!
