Even the most merciless bugs will perish from exhaustion before they interrupt a much-deserved good night’s sleep. Like our other inserts, this one is built with “no-see-um” mesh and fits just a bit smaller than the full perimeter of the UltaMid 4 to all but eliminate condensation. Great for Ultralight Purists chasing pack weight goals or looking for the least amount of bulk to keep packs small. While this insert handles bug issues with authority, we still recommend going with a floor if moisture-rich environments are on your travel itinerary. Keep your base weight and the risk to you and your travel companions’ of being eaten alive all night by bugs low with the mesh-walled, no-floor UltaMid 4 Mesh Insert. 100% Awesome for Motorcycle 🏍 Camping
I decided on this super light & large tent for both backpacking and also motorcycle camping. It’s compact size is perfect. Ultramid-4 is only for me. Palatial....Luxurious and I’m worth it! Got the bug net too for those Canadian Rocky summer nights. Excellent design and it looks strong.
Compromise spaciousness of UL4
Well constructed but seems to reduce significantly the space inside. Must try again to set it up.

Sometimes there are bugs
Was on the fence about taking this on a three week trip in the NWT. It turned out to be our most valuable piece of gear. We sleep on our packrafts and pitch the Ultramid high to accommodate this. Having the liner let us pitch high and enjoy bug free nights even when the bugs were terrible. The liner doesn't cut down usable space very much. It's also nicer on the face that Dynmena
Spacious, High enough for 4 people backpacking
I bought Ultamid 4 with mesh insert(no floor) last month and have camped outside twice until now. Total weight was just 1kg, and the packing was also very easy and small. It did a good job as a shelter during rainy and windy weather and also it was very speedy till it was totally dried. I had a hard time to decide Ultamid 4 among other alternative ones like Tarptent and Zpacks but now I love what I bought. Best part was weight and height. Cons was the silicone strap that connects two trekking poles. It was kind of poor and sometimes it just collapses. But I am sure I will get used to it to fasten it tight. Overall highly recommended to those who need it for family backpacking.
