Our preferred pack for backpacking in dense, heavily wooded trails in the roughest, toughest climates.
OUR CLOSE QUARTERS TRAIL PACK

On rugged and tight trails, the 3400 Southwest is a flexible performer that can adapt and handle the way gear volumes change for weekend, section, or thru hikes. Ideal when resupply points are less frequent and/or for equipment flexibility is needed. When the extra volume is not in use, the 3400’s top can roll down enough to make the overall size of the pack similar to the 2400, but that additional space can come in pretty handy when you need it.

When the route is thick with vegetation, requires the occasional up and over immovable objects, and calls for “suck in your gut and shimmy through” type moves, the Southwest is the backpack you want up-close and personal. This pack family is made specifically for tough adventures that would rip most other ultralight-style packs to shreds.

First proper pack

I finally drop the hammer on a proper lightweight hiking pack. Nicely made and feels 100% better than an off the shelf pack.

Peak quality

Finally got to upgrade to this amazing piece of gear! I had a Gregory pack for the last 6 or 7 years and it's worked well for me but it was probably a little small. This new pack fits perfectly and is lighter/bigger than my previous pack. Also my brother has had his hyperlite for about 6 years and it's been through a lot and still maintains the same quality it had from he beginning. He's the reason I turned to hyperlite for a new upgrade and Im very happy I did. Planning a trip to the southwest later this year to give it a real test :)

Wrapped under the tree

Best girlfriend in the world wrapped it up. And it's sitting under the Chirstmas tree. Can't wait

Just as I hoped for

I am a long time Osprey user and I was hesitant to switch packs. But as I get older and the trail gets harder, I wanted something lighter. Love my Hyperlite. Got the 3400. Plenty of room. Have been able to backpack 3 days carrying 18-22 lbs easily. Have had to make some adjustments like packing my heavier items on top and fiddling with the straps. Love the roomy side pockets and front pouch. Wish they would have included some bungee straps in outside of front pouch but I guess I can add them.

FLOP from Harpers 2021

Awesome Pack, just finished a FLOP from Harpers Ferry, Nov 13th 2021 ... Hit some bad weather many times and this Pack held tight in the rain / snow/ sleet keeping everything dry.... Extremely durable pack for sure.... Very lite, held all my gear & 4 days of food with plenty of room ....
