Phenominal

The first 4400 NorthRim I received was a bit off in sizing (top of opening only ~41"), but after an email to CS, it was cheerily exchanged for another one. I'm very pleased with this pack. I appreciate how I can load it up to capacity, but even more because I can roll down the top to turn it into a very compact (yet wide enough for a BV500 horizontally) weekender pack. Perfect. Bombproof. All-rounder.

Awesome

I just hiked 2,500 miles with this pack on the Four Corners Loop hiking through New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. The pack carried my load easily. I often carried 9L of water with all of my gear. This is my third Hyperlite pack and I love all of them. You can see my pack used at www.fclta.org

The best

I’m really not a review guy, but a friend of mine has recently been bitten by the wilderness bug and we’ve been having a lot of conversations about choosing the right gear the first time. I ended up back on this page to send him the link. This is the bag I wish I bought the first time. And the second time. And the next seven or eight times. It will swallow anything you want to carry, protect it no matter what you throw at it, and even compress down to a reasonable size for day excursions from a base camp. I have disrespectfully beaten the **** out of it and, with the exception of the well earned patina, you wouldn’t be able to tell. If HMG even looks like they’re about to discontinue this, I’ll get a second. Otherwise, this is likely the last pack.
