2400 Southwest
Starting at $320.00
The 2400 Southwest keeps you honest about packing smart and efficiently on weekend or section hikes where the supplies you may need to replace along the way are never too far out of reach. Ideal for weekend or section hikes where frequent resupply points are available.
When the route is thick with vegetation, requires the occasional up and over immovable objects, and calls for “suck in your gut and shimmy through” type moves, the Southwest is the backpack you want up-close and personal. This pack family is made specifically for tough adventures that would rip most other ultralight-style packs to shreds.

Best Pack
I love the way this pack fits and carries the weight. The black and white combo looks sweeeet. Took it on Vermont's Long Trail and about to take it on the PCT. The only thing I don't like is the velcro closure at the opening of the pack, it catches on every little thing and snags gear. I removed it and added snaps. Now it's perf.
Best Bag In The World!
Minimalism is an essential in my lifestyle and the 2400 Southwest has been made perfect for my needs!!
Outstanding piece of kit
I have the heavy duty black fabric, I’m really glad I was able to find it in the heavy build. I’m sure the lighter fabric is great too. I have used it primarily for ski touring, and made a few personal tweaks to really dial it in, more on that in a minute. The build quality is great, fabric is tough and fully waterproof which is huge here in the WA Cascades. I love having two belt pockets. The roll top with y-strap is a elegantly simple closure that allows for extras on top if needed. I’m also glad the pack has aluminum frame stays, which make it more stable when loaded than a foam framesheet alone. The mesh pocket inside is perfect for shovel handle, avalanche probe and saw, and I use a hydration bladder occasionally so the tube port is useful.
Changes I made:
I sewed on some webbing tabs to the roll top to make it easier to open with gloves on.
I removed the large center pocket and sewed on vertical daisy chains and axe holsters.
I slightly changed the attachments of the compression straps and added heavier webbing.
After sewing I retaped the stitches from the inside.
I was going to buy a Porter, but I found this pack second hand and decided to do the modifications for carrying skis and tools. Having the side pockets plus the belt pockets is incredible, I can stash gloves and food in there and access it on the move. I’ll eventually be getting a 4400 Porter for bigger outings, and will miss the side pockets, mesh internal pocket, and hydration port.
Great pack, it’s very…
STILL my absolute favorite pack
This pack never fails me. I’ve used it for every backpacking trip, thru-hike, day hike. I love it. If you’re looking for a light weight, durable AND water proof bag... this is it. Look no further.
Great Pack
I am very happy that I finally pulled the trigger and purchased this pack. It's very comfortable with medium loads, only tried up to about 25 lbs, but that's about as much as I'm planning to carry at most. The pack looks great, and I really like that there is only one central compartment and the outside pockets, makes packing much easier for me. The Y-strap on top is great for adding larger items if needed, and the hipbelt pockets are nice for small items and snacks, I really like this pack, would recommend. I was right at 19" torso and went with a large, it fits great.
