HMG shelters go through a stringent design process supported by over thirty years of applied outdoor gear design experience. They are made from Cuben fiber (CF8 and CF11), NoSeeUm mesh netting, employ sealed seams which have tested stronger than the fabric itself, and include Spectra™ guy lines which have been custom-made to fit our hardware. ECHO I Ultralight Shelter System
Great for solo adventuring, distance hiking, lightweight backpacking, climbing, camping, cycling, kayaking or canoeing, the Echo I is an innovative, durable, and one-man ultralight shelter.
This ultralight shelter consists of three modular components: a durable Cuben Fiber tarp, a detachable mesh tent insert for 100% insect and ground water protection, and a detachable vestibule for wind and storm protection. Using all components together, the Echo I works like a traditional one-man tent at approximately half the weight. Echo Shelter Systems can be pitched almost anywhere in just minutes.

The Echo I Insert is a fully enclosed, modular A-frame ultralight cuben fiber and mesh tent providing complete protection from insects and ground water. At 11.49 ounces, this lightweight insert clips directly into the Echo I or Echo II Tarp creating a fully enclosed ultralight tent. The tarp insert can also be pitched separately for 100% protection against ground water or mosquitoes while still providing a view of the stars.

HMG Porter/Expedition Pack
The Hyperlite Mountain Gear Porter is constructed out of HMG's proprietary Cuben Fiber/Polyester material that provides the ultimate in durability, protection, and strength. This frameless pack boasts a 3400 cu/in capacity and clocks in at an impressive 26.5 oz.
With a multitude of accessories and attachment points, the Porter gives packrafters, hikers, and mountaineers a variety of options allowing for trip-specific customization. The HMG Porter’s streamlined design features a wrap-around hip belt that keeps the pack snug and allows the pack load to rest on hips rather than shoulders; compression straps to help stabilize the load; and external attachment points that allow hikers to lash on additional gear and to accept a variety of pack accessories.

The Echo II Beak is an important addition to the Echo II Ultralight Tarp in the event of high winds or driving rain. It works as a weather vestibule that quickly and easily attaches to the front of the tarp providing complete protection from heavy rain. At only 0.27 lbs (4.3 oz) the Cuben Fiber beak is well worth its weight for long distance travel or under any conditions where heavy rain or high winds are possible.
The beak is designed with a military spec Velcro hook & loop attachment system, military grade snaps and three guy lines, all for quick and easy attachment. It also has a double-pull, waterproof zipped entry with the ability to open and close either its right or left side. Set-up time is ½ minute.
